FedEx Express (FedEx) recently served as the official Platinum Sponsor at the ‘Landmarks in Logistics’ symposium in Saudi Arabia. FedEx highlighted regional and global trends, new technologies, and challenges impacting the logistics and supply chain industry in Saudi Arabia with the purpose of linking businesses to global opportunities.

The summit’s keynote speaker was Zaid Khammash, Managing Director Operations for FedEx Express. In his speech, he emphasised the need of aligning the aims of the logistics sector with the three important themes impacting corporate growth: digitization, e-commerce, and sustainability.

Intelligence in the digital age

The use of digital intelligence, digital applications, and online payment systems was emphasised in order to build “smart logistics” that can assist traverse the shifting terrain of e-commerce and digitalisation. Khammash further stressed that ethical and sustainable carbon-neutral logistics operations are critical to ambitious government projects in the Middle East, as well as for enterprises to stay competitive in the long term.

The summit also acted as a venue for small and medium-sized enterprises to share information. FedEx provided views on developing a vibrant and successful entrepreneurial environment in the country during a panel discussion titled “SMEs in Saudi Arabia: Challenges and Opportunities.”
