On February 6th, Reliance Industries Limited and its partner Ashok Leyland debuted India’s first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine technology for heavy-duty trucks at the India Energy Week in Bengaluru. The launch was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. RIL, Ashok Leyland, and other technical partners have been working on this technology since 2021 with the first engines being operational in early 2022.
This hydrogen solution emits nearly zero emissions, offers performance comparable to diesel trucks, reduces noise, and is expected to reduce operating costs, redefining the future of sustainable mobility, according to Reliance’s statement.
