Noida International Airport is set to launch its commercial flight operations for both domestic and international routes on April 17, 2025, according to officials following a high-level meeting. Representatives from Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL) and Yamuna International Airport Ltd (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich AG, presented a detailed timeline for the necessary clearances to ensure the airport’s smooth opening.
Initially expected to begin operations by September 2024, the launch was delayed, and the facility is now poised to serve as the second major airport in the Delhi-NCR region. The airport is expected to handle up to 65 flights daily, including 62 domestic routes, two international flights, and one cargo flight.
“The concessionaire has submitted a plan to start commercial operations by April 17, 2025. However, we are exploring the possibility of an earlier launch,” NIAL CEO Arun Vir Singh told The Times of India. He noted that any delays beyond April could postpone international approvals from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) by another six months.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed NIAL and other authorities to finalize flight schedules and operational details before the airport’s opening. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently involved in securing domestic routes.
Flight trials conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) are scheduled to begin on November 30, ensuring the project remains on track.
Additionally, the Namo Bharat Metro line, which will connect Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport, is progressing. The 72.4-kilometer route, expected to be completed by 2031, will enhance connectivity between Delhi NCR and the new airport, featuring 22 stations along the route.
