Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s largest port developer and operator, has signed a concession agreement with the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) to develop Berth No. 13 at Deendayal Port in Kandla, Gujarat. To oversee operations at the berth, APSEZ has established a wholly-owned subsidiary, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal (DPACCCTL), according to an official statement from the company.
In July 2024, APSEZ received a letter of intent for the development, operation, and maintenance of the berth under a 30-year concession agreement. The project will be executed using the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, catering to multipurpose clean cargo, including containerized goods.
Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ, commented: “Berth No. 13 will expand our footprint at Deendayal Port by enabling us to handle multipurpose clean cargo alongside the dry bulk cargo we already manage. This development will strengthen our presence along the western coast and improve our capacity to serve customers in Gujarat and northern India.”
The new berth, measuring 300 meters in length, will have an annual handling capacity of 5.7 million tonnes and is expected to be operational by FY27.
