The introduction of fully electric vehicles (EVs) to Aramex’s last mile delivery fleet in the United Arab Emirates is part of the company’s long-term strategic commitment to sustainability and reducing its operational carbon footprint. Aramex is a leading provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions worldwide.
Aramex’s larger objectives, which include the desire to become carbon neutral by 2030 and net-zero by 2050, specifically include the programme as a component. The company’s plan to increase the fleet of clean vehicles it operates in the United Arab Emirates has begun with the deployment of these EVs.
In order to support its ambitious fleet electrification objectives across its worldwide network until 2030, Aramex will interact with top global players in the EV industry going ahead and create collaborations.
The action is also consistent with Aramex’s proactive, integrated, and stakeholder-centric approach to sustainability and value creation, which aims to continually strengthen and improve both the company’s competitive skills, which are unmatched in the industry, and the effects of its operations on the communities in which it operates.
When it comes to sustainability, Aramex has always been a leader in the GCC. It is also the first business in the area to publish an audited sustainability report that demonstrates its dedication to its major stakeholders, the local area, and the environment.
In Amman, Jordan, Aramex successfully added 10 all-electric cars to its fleet in 2017. Since then, the company has gradually experimented with integrating EVs in other regional markets, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on the initiative, Alaa Saoudi, Chief Operating Officer – Express at Aramex, said, “We are thrilled to introduce electric vehicles to our last mile delivery fleet, driven by our steadfast commitment to delivering a better future to the communities and the markets where we operate.
“As a leader in sustainability across the region, the addition of these EVs into our delivery fleet in Dubai is an integral part of our Delivering Good platform – and we are truly humbled to announce this exciting development as the UAE celebrates the Year of Sustainability.
“As the country accelerates innovation and tangible actions in the pursuit of its Net Zero by 2050 initiative, we are proud to contribute to a lower-carbon future and are committed to reducing CO₂ emissions from our operations.
“This pathbreaking deployment is not only a natural progression of our motto to protect the environment but also makes our operations ready for the future.
“This is only the beginning of our strategy to significantly grow and expand our fleet of EVs in the UAE as well as across our global network, building on our pioneering clean mobility efforts around the region, and look forward to an array of EVs operating in the Aramex fleet soon.”
The use of the EVs in Dubai follows thorough testing for a variety of electric delivery trucks by Aramex. The company put EVs to the test during the testing and made sure the essential infrastructure was in place to facilitate fast and dependable operations. To account for weather conditions and guarantee delivery effectiveness, EV testing were carried out at various times of the day and year.
The introduction of the EVs demonstrates Aramex’s dedication to advancing sustainability and fostering community development and is closely connected with its “Delivering Good” strategy.
