Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has reported a record-breaking mango export season, reinforcing its status as a leading hub for agricultural exports. In 2024, the airport shipped an impressive 822 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes, marking a significant 20% increase from the previous year.
The volume of mangoes exported this season reached 27 lakh pieces, representing a remarkable 59% growth compared to last year’s 685 tonnes. This surge highlights the rising international demand for Indian mangoes and Bengaluru Airport’s efficiency in managing perishable goods.
The United States has seen a notable increase in mango exports, with Washington Dulles (IAD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), and San Francisco (SFO) emerging as top destinations. Additionally, the airport’s extensive export network includes over 60 international destinations such as Chicago (ORD), Seattle (SEA), Dubai (DXB), London (LHR), and Houston (IAH).
Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport, emphasised the critical role of the airport’s advanced cold storage facility, WFS BLR Coolport, in maintaining the quality of the mangoes throughout the export process.
“This year’s substantial increase in mango exports reaffirms our role as a premier gateway for Indian agricultural products, catering to the growing global demand,” Raghunath said.
This achievement further establishes Bengaluru Airport as a key player in the global mango export market, ensuring seamless and efficient delivery of Indian mangoes to international consumers.
