Budget 2019 is around the corner and Modi 2.0 Government is busy finalising the Union Budget 2019 that will be presented by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5th. At the same time, the industry and different sectors have kept a close on it and logistics sector is not an exception to it.

The industry which is an integral part of various industries have also some expectations that they think requires attention by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Abhishek Bansal, Co-Founder & CEO – Shadowfax said, “We are expecting that the new Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will initiate some remarkable steps to ease and escalate the growth of the logistics industry. Having witnessed the thrust of BJP government on digitization in its earlier outing, we have immense hope for more of the same thrust for better and Advanced Technologies.

A directed focus on more advanced technology coupled with the upcoming 5G spectrum will give a growth impetus to the logistics sector in India. We look forward to a set of sector-specific policies for better handling of pertinent issues faced, which will be a major milestone for the logistics sector. For the past five years, the ruling government has been really supportive of Entrepreneurs & Startups companies, which gives us hope that the new budget will have some powerful package for logistics as well.”

As stated by one of the daily, the top 3 expectations that the logistics industry is expecting from the finance minister are:

  • Focus on more advanced technology coupled with the upcoming 5G spectrum;
  • Policies for better handling of pertinent issues; and
  • Policies that would support Entrepreneurs & Startups companies emerging in the logistics space

Hope these demands of the logistics industry makes a cut into the list of announcements in the budget 2019.
