The event, organised by the Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India (FFFAI), marked a significant milestone in the logistics industry. The event commenced with the grand celebration of FFFAI’s Diamond Jubilee in New Delhi, India. Amidst the jubilant atmosphere, esteemed guests, including Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and Shri Vivek Johri, Chairman of CBIC, delivered inspiring speeches that captured the essence of the occasion.

Shri Piyush Goyal’s thought-provoking speech highlighted the remarkable achievements of the past 60 years while acknowledging the challenges faced by the industry. He emphasized the importance of addressing container shortages, the impact of COVID-19, and the need to eliminate corruption. He encouraged the industry to break free from the colonial mindset, embracing transparency and modernity. Notably, he also stressed the empowerment of women, the role of youth, and the use of technology in simplifying business transactions.

Shri Vivek Johri‘s keynote address further enriched the event, emphasising the collaborative schemes between CBIC and FFFAI. He underscored the importance of reflecting on the CBIC and FFFAI relationship to foster improvement, with a shared goal of serving importers and exporters. Shri Johri’s speech resonated with the audience, inspiring them to invest more in skill development and promote transparency within the logistics industry.

The event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FFFAI and International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA) & Japan Customs Brokers Association to promote a smooth exchange of information between Japan and India for logistics. The event also unveiled the Diamond Jubilee Souvenir, Coffee Table Book and eBL (e-Bill of Lading) to benefit the exim trade.

Throughout the panel discussions and speeches, the themes of standardisation, transparency, sustainability, and the utilisation of technology resonated strongly. Industry leaders like Dr. Ivan Petrov, President of FIATA, Mr. Seisaku Okafuji, Managing Director, International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA) & President, Japan Customs Brokers Association, and Mr. Mike Bhaskaran, Chief Operating Officer – Logistics at DP World, shared invaluable insights, highlighting the pivotal role of freight forwarders as architects of the supply chain.
