French shipping and logistics company CMA CGM has announced a strategic partnership with Alphabet’s Google to accelerate the deployment of AI solutions throughout its worldwide operations. This collaboration aims to optimize the use of CMA CGM’s fleet and warehouses using Google’s powerful computational tools.

Through this partnership, CMA CGM seeks to increase efficiency and shorten delivery times by optimizing routes, container handling, and inventory management, all while minimizing costs and carbon emissions. CMA CGM’s Chairman and CEO, Rodolphe Saade, described the partnership as a “crucial step” in the company’s transformation strategy.

Google France CEO, Sebastien Missoffe, emphasized that Google’s “infrastructure, data expertise, and long-term approach to AI” will support CMA CGM’s growth. CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s logistics arm, will leverage Google’s AI-based management tools to enhance warehouse operations through improved volume and demand forecasting.

Additionally, CMA CGM’s media division, which holds stakes in French private broadcaster M6 and recently acquired France’s leading rolling news channel BFM TV, will use AI tools to assist journalists. These tools will help synthesize and translate documents, generate media snippets for social networks, and facilitate the digitization and research of archives.

This partnership signifies a significant advancement in CMA CGM’s efforts to integrate advanced AI technologies into its logistics and media operations, driving innovation and efficiency across the board.
