How do you think we can celebrate and honour the achievements of women in the cargo and logistics industry on International Women’s Day, and throughout the year?

The achievements and excellence of women in the cargo and logistics industry should be celebrated not just on International Women’s Day, but throughout the year. It’s time we establish a dedicated women’s club within the logistics sector to foster collaboration, mentorship, and growth.

Looking deeper, the industry needs to take concrete steps to encourage more women to join and thrive. This includes creating job opportunities tailored for women, promoting logistics as a viable career choice in colleges, and developing frameworks and policies that support and empower women in the workplace.

Having spent nearly a decade in this industry, I firmly believe that women bring balance, fresh perspectives, and innovative ideas that can drive meaningful change.

Can you share any challenges you’ve faced as a woman working in the cargo and logistics industry, and also, how did you overcome them?

I have been fortunate to be integrated seamlessly into the industry. However, as a woman, I have often had to go the extra mile to prove my expertise and establish my credibility among my male colleagues.  What worked for me was the recognition and value placed by my organisation on my ideas, opinions, and contributions. By consistently demonstrating knowledge, adaptability, and a strong work ethic, I was able to gain respect and carve out my space in the industry.

How can women in the cargo and logistics industry take advantage of the opportunities created by digitalisation to advance their careers and make a meaningful impact in the industry?
