DP World recently celebrated the inaugural call of M.V. Folk Jeddah at its Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), marking the launch of the India Red Sea Service (IRS). This new service will significantly strengthen connectivity between India and the Middle East, connecting key ports such as Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Jeddah, and Salalah.
The IRS route is designed to enhance trade efficiency by reducing transit times and improving access to major ports, thereby supporting bilateral trade flows between the regions. Ravinder Johal, Chief Operating Officer of Ports & Terminals for DP World Subcontinent and MENA Region, emphasized the strategic importance of this service in boosting supply chain connectivity and supporting India’s export growth aspirations under the Vision 2030 initiative. The IRS will provide businesses with faster access to emerging markets, helping them optimize their supply chains.
In line with its sustainability goals, DP World continues to focus on eco-friendly initiatives at its Nhava Sheva terminals. These terminals have adopted green energy practices, including sourcing 11 MW of renewable power, which is set to replace up to 80% of their conventional energy needs. This shift is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 50%, reinforcing DP World’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable trade practices.
