Emirates has confirmed an order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, with deliveries scheduled for 2025 and 2026. This new order, combined with previous ones, brings the airline’s total pending deliveries to 14 Boeing 777Fs, expected to arrive by the end of 2026.

In addition, Emirates has extended the lease for four Boeing 777Fs from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. By December 2026, Emirates SkyCargo is set to operate 21 production-built Boeing 777 freighters, significantly expanding its current fleet of 11. The airline is also committed to converting 10 Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft into freighters to further increase capacity.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, commented: “We’re investing in new freighters to meet rising demand and offer our customers more flexibility, connectivity, and market opportunities. The growing demand for Emirates’ air cargo services highlights Dubai’s position as a leading global logistics hub and the success of our bespoke cargo solutions tailored to various industries.

Boeing expressed its support for Emirates SkyCargo’s growth, recognizing the performance and versatility of the 777 Freighter in connecting global markets. Emirates will continue to utilize its wide-body passenger aircraft alongside the growing freighter fleet to ensure fast and efficient global cargo movement. This diverse fleet will include 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s.

The expansion of Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) will further enhance the city’s logistics capabilities. Once completed, DWC will handle up to 12 million tonnes of cargo annually, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a leading multi-modal cargo hub for air, sea, and land connections.

Looking ahead, Emirates plans to decide by the end of 2024 on its future freighter fleet for 2028 and beyond, with the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350-1000F as potential options.
