The Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FFFAI) celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2023 at its Hqtrs in Mumbai. A good number of the FFFAI Women’s Wing members participated in the event in person and online.
Ms. Mamta Saini – Additional Commissioner of Customs, Nhava Sheva. Chief guest at the event addressing the participants shared her experience and highlighted that women are nurtured in such a way that they must respect whatever has been told to them by their Parents and/or Husband. She also underscored that when women move into the professional world, they not only proficiently handle their assigned jobs but also the household responsibility which is shouldered on to them simultaneously. Ms Saini also commended the women Customs Brokers Fraternity and how she is impressed and gets inspired by them. She concluded her speech reciting a powerful poem suggesting women to be strong enough to be self-reliant.
Dr. Swati Pitale – Principal. S.D. College special guest stated that it was a good occasion to sign an MOU with FFFAI. As per the MoU, both the organisations will be carrying out joint activities for capacity building programs, knowledge creation programs and research projects pertaining to this sector.
Core activities will cover the following: i. To conduct FFFAI concurred Courses in co-operation with SD College, ii. Joint research in the areas of common interest and iii. Marketing activities to promote the joint course activities.
FFFAI Chairman – Mr. Shankar Shinde congratulating women’s participants stated that the logistics dynamics are changing creating opportunity for women’s role in Logistics. “This is very encouraging to see women’s participation in logistics as we are now witnessing women taking equal challenges of attending operational tasks in fields as well,” he added.
Mr. Sudip Dey, Vice Chairman guiding the Women’s Wing of FFFAI showcased the present and future scenario of the logistics industry and opportunities available for the aspirants.
Convenor FFFAI Women’s Wing Ms. Chaitaly Mehta viewed that Logistics Industry is the backbone to Global Trade and World Economy akin to Spinal Cord is to a Human Body. We touch and change lives every single day in every single corner of the world. She appealed for more women to join this thriving sector for an exciting career option.
Mentor FFFAI Women’s Wing Mrs. Philomena Pereira, a senior most women in the Logistics industry, shared her experience Commenting on this occasion. Adding further Mrs Philomena Pereira said Logistics Industry provides many verticals of businesses so anyone who is passionate about building a career or business will not only thrive or survive but make their dreams a reality.
Other participant members of the Women’s Wing Ms. Hemal Joshi, Ms. Madhu Daga, Ms. Rita Guha, Ms. Sreelatha, Ms. Divya Shetty and Ms. Rajshree Verma also shared their views on the prospect of the logistics industry at this event.
