In a pioneering industry-academia collaboration, the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai has partnered with The Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI) to introduce a two-year MBA programme focused on maritime, logistics, and supply chain management. This unique programme integrates logistics and supply chain management with maritime management, offering specialized knowledge to its participants.
Captain M. P. Bhasin, Master (Chairman) of The Company of Master Mariners of India, highlighted the programme’s importance, stating that executives, non-seafarers, and even seafarers, including master mariners and chief engineers on ships, should consider this course. He emphasized that seafarers typically have limited knowledge of logistics and supply chain management. This programme aims to develop the next generation of maritime leaders, equipped to navigate the complexities of global logistics and supply chain management.
Already, 39 students have registered for the inaugural batch of this MBA course. The programme is highly flexible, allowing seafarers to complete their first year, return to sailing in their second year, and then finish the programme in their third year. The course fee is Rs 15 lakhs (Rs 10 lakhs at the time of admission and Rs 5 lakhs after 12 months).
