Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who attended the event, highlighted that this partnership will not only enhance knowledge sharing but also play a crucial role in shaping the future of the aviation industry.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has entered into a strategic collaboration with Airbus India Private Limited to advance aviation and logistics education in Assam. This initiative aims to elevate the socio-economic landscape of the northeastern region.

The collaboration follows successful discussions with officials from the Assam Government’s Transport, Skill, and Industries Departments. A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) was signed by Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India Private Limited, to formalize this partnership.

Chief Minister Sarma emphasized that the collaboration will focus on critical areas such as transportation, hospitality, skilling, and logistics—each offering significant growth potential. He assured that students participating in these programs will benefit from scholarships to support their pursuit of new career opportunities.

Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that it aligns with the institute’s vision for advanced education in aviation and logistics while addressing the urgent need for skilled professionals in these sectors. “This initiative will empower the youth of Assam and the northeastern region, fostering innovation, economic growth, and a brighter future for all,” he said.

Suraj Chettri, VP and Head of HR at Airbus India and South Asia, emphasized the need for a large-scale, skilled workforce to drive the exponential growth of the aviation industry. “We will continue to invest in developing a skilled workforce in India, working closely with the Government of India and various state governments to unlock the full potential of the Indian aviation sector. Together, we aim to lay the foundation for sustainable growth and global leadership in aviation,” he stated.
