Effective from 15th April, Ashwin Bhat will take over as the new CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, succeeding Dorothea von Boxberg who is leaving to join Brussels Airlines.
Mr. Bhat’s career progression has been within Lufthansa Group’s cargo division, starting with Swiss World Cargo under former leader Oliver Evans. He then went on to lead operations in Zurich in 2015 and was appointed as the CCO on the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo in 2021.
Board member Dr. Michael Niggemann said, “I am very pleased that Ashwin Bhat, a very skilled manager and internationally experienced logistics and cargo expert, is taking on this responsible task. He has played a key role in achieving Lufthansa Cargo’s most successful years so far and, as CEO, he will further develop the company and expand its strong market positioning.”
Lufthansa Cargo’s executive board will maintain its three-member structure. The airline has announced that the appointment of the third member, as well as a reallocation of duties, will occur “as soon as possible.”
