Integrated logistics services provider Mahindra Logistics Ltd is making significant strides in expanding its presence across the Eastern and North Eastern (NE) regions of India. With a focus on warehouses, delivery stations, and express logistics, the company’s ‘Go East’ strategy aims to strengthen its logistics network in the under-served eastern market. As part of this initiative, Mahindra Logistics plans to open warehouses in strategic locations, increasing its reach to 800 pin codes and adding 100 more to boost last-mile delivery services.

In the last year, the company has already developed 1.5 million square feet of warehousing capacity in Western India, and it sees vast potential in the East, particularly in e-commerce, quick commerce, and FMCG sectors. Currently managing 19 million square feet of warehouse space, Mahindra Logistics has set a goal to expand this capacity to 30 million square feet in the coming years.

As a key part of the ‘Go East’ plan, the company recently launched a large-scale warehouse in Guwahati. “Our major strategic shift has been the Go East programme. We initiated a soft launch for the Guwahati warehouse a few months ago, and we’re now onboarding customers,” said Rampraveen Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Logistics. The Guwahati facility, fully powered by renewable energy, is expected to be fully operational by mid-next month.

The company will soon launch its first of two mega warehouses in Kolkata, with the initial facility—a four lakh square feet, platinum-certified warehouse—set to go live in November. The second warehouse in Kolkata is scheduled for completion within the next 18 months. Mahindra Logistics is also preparing to expand in Agartala, where the first phase of a 1,40,000 square foot warehouse will be operational by March next year. Additionally, the company is working on a new site in Bihar, with plans to have a facility in Patna live by next summer.

These expansions are part of Mahindra Logistics’ broader goal to tap into the growing logistics demand in the Eastern and NE regions, driving growth in key sectors and enhancing its service offerings across the country.
