Noatum Logistics, a key player within the AD Ports Group and a leading global logistics provider, has launched a new rail logistics service specifically designed for the Middle East.
This innovative rail shuttle will enhance Noatum Logistics’ regional freight forwarding capabilities, complementing their existing land, sea, and air transport solutions. The service will link the UAE’s Khalifa Port with Fujairah Terminals, utilizing the national railway managed by Etihad Rail. The aim is to strengthen the regional logistics network by significantly increasing capacity and providing more efficient options for moving large volumes of overland freight.
The rail service will feature weekly departures, with each train capable of carrying up to 156 TEUs or 78 FEUs in one direction. It is adaptable to include first and last-mile truck transport, offering a seamless, end-to-end logistics solution.
AD Ports Group announced that this rail service offers substantial cost savings and efficiency compared to traditional road transport. With scalability and suitability for handling bulk, containerized, oversized, and general cargo over medium to long distances, it bypasses traffic congestion, road bans, and tolls. This results in reduced costs, more reliable delivery schedules, and enhanced logistics planning.
As demand grows, Noatum Logistics may increase the number of weekly services between Khalifa Port and Fujairah Terminals and possibly extend the shuttle service across other regions.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and CEO of AD Ports Group, commented, “The first commercial train shuttle between Khalifa Port and Fujairah Terminals marks a significant milestone for AD Ports Group. It aligns with our leadership’s vision to enhance connectivity across the UAE and the Middle East. The National Railway Network, developed and operated by Etihad Rail, plays a crucial role in linking our strategic seaports and logistics hubs, and is key to driving economic growth for the region for generations to come.”
