With effect from 1 September 2023, Qatar Airways Cargo has restarted its cargo services to Bahrain. The cargo airline is pleased to announce the beginning of three weekly Freighter operations, which will add more than 200 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity to/from Bahrain to the airline’s existing 21 narrow-body passenger flights to Bahrain each week.
Liesbeth Oudkerk, SVP Cargo Sales and Network Planning said, “We are glad to be back in Bahrain with dedicated freighters three times a week. Bahrain is an important market for us, and having a consistent freighter service will contribute to the economic and trade growth between Qatar and Bahrain.”
General cargo, perishables including fruits, vegetables, and meat make up the majority of imports into Bahrain, while general cargo and hazardous items make up the majority of exports from Bahrain. With the addition of Bahrain, Qatar Airways Cargo now offers freighter and passenger belly-hold flights to 24 Middle Eastern destinations, with a total weekly cargo capacity of more than 4,500 tonnes to and from the Middle East.
Qatar Airways Cargo is improving its services and operations across the network by implementing its Next Generation strategy across the board. On the platform of the cargo carrier’s Digital Lounge or through its third-party markets, capacity for travel to and from Bahrain may be reserved online.
