King Abdulaziz Port will now be a part of Regional Container Lines’ (RCL) Gulf ASEAN (RGA) cargo service, according to the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani). RCL is a Thai-based shipping company.
The improved service, which will begin operations on September 5 from Ho Chi Minh City, will send one ship directly from the Dammam port to important hubs in Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East, including Cai Mep, Laem Chabang, Port Klang, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, and Sohar.
The Arabian Gulf port will strengthen its position as a significant regional commerce gateway with world-class capabilities and high standards of productivity and efficiency with the addition of a new marine link, which is what helped it achieve a record-breaking monthly tally of 211,202 TEUs in July.
In the most recent edition of the UNCTAD’s Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI), the Kingdom received a score of 76.16 points and a rating of 16, thanks in large part to the national maritime regulator’s attempts to entice international freightliners to its shores.
