With 13 international freighter services set to commence, Navi Mumbai International Airport is strengthening its role as a key logistics and trade gateway for Western India.

NMIA marked a significant milestone with the arrival of its first dedicated international freighter from Hong Kong, operated by Hong Kong Air Cargo. The airline will operate three weekly Hong Kongโ€“Navi Mumbai services, creating six weekly cargo movements. The Airbus A330-200F freighter can carry approximately 60 tonnes of import and export cargo.

NMIA also launched its first Air India Express international passenger flight to Abu Dhabi on July 15, followed by IndiGo Cargoโ€™s first dedicated freighter to Sharjah on August 1, carrying 20 tonnes.

Approvals cover key destinations including Hong Kong, Chengdu, Bangkok, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Frankfurt, Dubai, Paris and Riyadh.

โ€œGrowing freighter activity will expand our international cargo network and strengthen connectivity with key markets, creating greater opportunities for exporters, importers and businesses,โ€ said a spokesperson of NMIA.

Aligned with the National Logistics Policy and Maharashtra Governmentโ€™s Logistics Policy 2024, NMIA is developing a tech-enabled cargo ecosystem supporting domestic, international, express and specialised shipments.
