Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has highlighted the critical role of logistics connectivity in unlocking the trade potential of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Speaking at the India–Belgium High-Level Dialogue on the India–EU FTA in Mumbai on September 4, De Wever said strong logistics links would be essential to translating the agreement’s opportunities into actual trade growth.

The Belgian Prime Minister also positioned the Port of Antwerp-Bruges as a key logistics bridge between India and Europe, particularly as Indian exports to European markets are expected to gain further momentum under the FTA.

The development highlights the growing importance of efficient ports, shipping, freight forwarding and multimodal supply chains in supporting the next phase of India–Europe trade.

With India and Belgium looking to deepen economic ties, logistics connectivity is emerging as a key enabler of the India–EU trade opportunity.
