Lufthansa Cargo is expanding its freighter operations across Asia Pacific and North America while shifting its Mumbai freighter services to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) from October 25, 2026, as part of its winter schedule. The revised network will cover 48 freighter routes connecting 40 destinations worldwide, with additional capacity to support growing air freight demand and international trade.

Mumbai Operations Move to NMIA

Lufthansa Cargo will relocate its freighter operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to NMIA, supporting evolving cargo infrastructure requirements. Mumbai remains a key export gateway for pharmaceuticals, engineering goods and automotive components. Meanwhile, SWISS World Cargo will add Bengaluru to its network via Zurich, strengthening cargo connections between India and Europe.

Asia Pacific and North America Expansion

Singapore will be added to an existing Frankfurt–Taipei rotation, while twice-weekly transpacific services connecting Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai and Los Angeles will continue. Frankfurt–Taipei and Frankfurt–Chengdu freighter services will operate three times weekly, alongside restored connections between Almaty and Frankfurt. In North America, Lufthansa Cargo will add one weekly service each to New York JFK, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, increasing frequencies to five, four and three weekly connections, respectively. The network will continue serving 11 North American and four South American destinations.

European and Passenger Network Updates

The airline will integrate Larnaca, Istanbul and Stavanger into its Boeing 777 freighter schedule, while restructuring four Airbus A321 freighter routes. Lufthansa Group’s passenger network will further support cargo capacity, with Kuala Lumpur joining Lufthansa Airlines’ network through two weekly services. From November, ITA Airways will introduce twice-weekly flights to Santo Domingo. Lufthansa Cargo’s wider network includes Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, ITA Airways, Sun Express and partners such as Etihad Cargo and Cathay Cargo, connecting markets through six major hubs.

The winter 2026/27 schedule begins October 25, 2026. Cargo bookings opened on October 4 under the airline’s 21-day advance booking arrangement.
