ANA is set to consolidate its three cargo businesses — ANA Cargo, Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA), and NCA Japan (NCAJ) — under a new entity, ANA Nippon Cargo Airlines, which will operate under the ANA Nippon Cargo brand.

According to ANA, Nippon Cargo Airlines will remain the operating entity and will retain its Air Transport Business License and Air Operator Certificate.

The new ANA Nippon Cargo brand is scheduled to launch on 1 April, while the company name is expected to be changed during the second half of the 2027 financial year.

ANA said the integration is aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of its cargo business by bringing together the expertise of ANA Cargo, a combination carrier, with the specialised capabilities of NCA and NCAJ as dedicated freighter operators.

The integration will also strengthen the connection between ANA’s passenger network and freighter operations, creating an end-to-end cargo offering covering sales, flight operations, and cargo handling. ANA expects this unified approach to improve its ability to respond to evolving customer requirements and market conditions while delivering greater convenience and value.

The group has already been gradually integrating its cargo operations in recent months. ANA Cargo and NCA have expanded cooperation through shared cargo capacity and codeshare arrangements, particularly on routes across North America and Europe.

Other initiatives include the unification of sales structures outside Japan, giving customers a single point of contact regardless of the operating carrier. ANA also plans to consolidate warehouse operations in Japan, beginning with pickup and drop-off activities at Chubu and Kansai airports, while cargo-handling processes outside Japan will also be streamlined.

The consolidation of overseas operations will initially begin with arrival cargo handling at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

ANA said further integration of sales structures in Japan and additional consolidation of warehouse operations across domestic and international airports are also being considered.

By combining NCA’s dedicated freighter network with ANA’s international passenger network, the group aims to strengthen its position as a leading combination carrier in Asia while offering customers greater flexibility, reliability, and value.

ANA added that the reorganisation will also support its target of achieving ¥30 billion in integration and synergy benefits following its acquisition of NCA.
