Brussels Airport has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad International Airport to strengthen cooperation in air cargo development and explore new opportunities between Belgium and India.
The agreement will focus on knowledge sharing, improving connectivity and developing stronger cargo links between Brussels and Hyderabad.
The partnership will also explore opportunities to connect Brussels Airportโs expertise in pharmaceutical logistics with Hyderabadโs established life sciences ecosystem. Both airports aim to strengthen relationships between their respective pharma and life sciences communities, creating closer links between Europe and India.
Although there is currently no direct air service between Brussels and Hyderabad, the airports will work together to identify opportunities to improve connectivity and support the development of future cargo flows.
Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport, said the MoU would help bring the two airport ecosystems closer together while supporting trade, economic growth and knowledge exchange.
He highlighted Brussels Airportโs position as a major European hub for pharmaceutical and life sciences logistics, alongside Hyderabadโs growing life sciences sector.
Kadhir Kadhiravan, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, said the partnership would strengthen Hyderabadโs connections with the European cargo ecosystem and support its ambition to become more integrated into global trade networks.
The collaboration will bring together market expertise, industry partnerships and complementary capabilities to create opportunities for businesses in Hyderabad and the wider region.
Brussels Airport has developed significant expertise in pharmaceutical logistics and plays a key role in Belgiumโs pharmaceutical export industry.
In 2014, the airport became the first airport globally to achieve CEIV Pharma certification, an internationally recognised standard for the handling and transportation of pharmaceutical products.
