In an exclusive conversation with Apace Digital Cargo, Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director & CEO, Aeroprime Group, shares his insights on redefining the role of a General Sales & Service Agent (GSSA) in today’s dynamic air cargo industry. From forging long-term airline partnerships to driving capacity utilization, embracing digitization, and navigating shifting trade trends in 2025, he reveals how Aeroprime blends technology, market intelligence, and operational expertise to deliver measurable value. With a clear vision for expansion and innovation, Goyal offers a candid look at how Aeroprime is shaping the future of airline representation.
To begin with, could you shed light on your approach to airline partnerships? What makes a GSSA–airline relationship successful?
For Aeroprime Group, building successful airline partnerships is all about strategic alignment, operational excellence, and creating long-term value. A GSSA must go beyond transactional support to become a true commercial partner, one that understands the carrier’s objectives and delivers results on the ground. We use advanced market analytics and in-depth local knowledge to identify destination mix and high-yielding revenue opportunities. Coupled with our strong network of trade partners, this enables us to achieve fast and effective market penetration.
Aeroprime also helps simplify market entry by handling regulatory compliance, customs clearance and registration, government liaison, and taxation, eliminating the need for costly local infrastructure. Our experienced teams take full ownership of sales, marketing, compliance, revenue management, and operations, ensuring our airline partners can focus on their core business strategies.
At Aeroprime, we combine the power of intelligent technology with on-ground expertise to unlock cargo growth at every level. Using AI and advanced analytics, we identify high-demand corridors, optimize capacity, and accurately forecast demand. Our digital tools enable online booking, dynamic pricing, real-time tracking, and yield optimization, offering airlines greater control and agility. Paired with expert human insight, this tech-led approach ensures operational excellence, maximized returns, and lasting commercial trust across all cargo partnerships.
How does Aeroprime contribute to improving capacity utilization and route profitability for partner airlines?
Improving capacity utilization and route profitability is central to how Aeroprime delivers value for its partner airlines. It starts with identifying high-yield routes through a combination of advanced market analytics and on-ground intelligence. Backed by strong trade partnerships, Aeroprime ensures rapid traction and optimal load factors from day one.
By continuously tracking cargo trends and demand cycles, we strategically curate the destination and product mix, focusing on routes where similar cargo volumes yield better returns. Aligning high-demand segments like e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and express cargo with premium markets enables partners to unlock higher profitability. This focused strategy ensures efficient capacity usage, avoids underutilized space, and optimizes ULD build-up for maximum yield. Acting as an integrated commercial extension of the airline,
Aeroprime develops tailored sales strategies and prioritizes revenue-generating segments. Our digital infrastructure enhances this by offering real-time insights into bookings, pricing, and performance—empowering partners to make data-driven decisions and maximize every kilo of space.
The GSSA business has evolved significantly. How do you see Aeroprime shaping this evolution?
The GSSA landscape has evolved from a sales-centric model to a strategic growth enabler. At Aeroprime, we go beyond representation to co-build airline success through integrated services sales, revenue optimization, compliance, digital tools, and brand-building.
Consistently recognized and awarded as a leading Cargo GSSA, we’ve successfully partnered with carriers like Thai Airways, My Freighter, Air Cambodia, and Salam Air etc to unlock new markets and ensure consistent operations. We proactively build cargo pipelines, coordinating with trade partners, handlers, and customs to reduce friction and optimize turnaround times. By leveraging real-time data and aligning with shifting market dynamics, we maintain agile capacity planning and drive sustainable cargo performance.
How important is innovation and digitization in your day-to-day operations as a GSSA?
Innovation and digitization aren’t just important, they’re foundational to how we operate and deliver value as a modern GSSA. From adopting e-AWBs to deploying IoT-enabled tracking for sensitive shipments, we’re minimizing manual processes and improving real-time visibility across the supply chain. We’re also leveraging AI for ULD optimization, load planning, and cargo trend analysis to maximize efficiency and identify high-yield destinations and commodities. Emerging technologies like blockchain hold further promise in enhancing security and transparency. On the customer front, digital dashboards, automated reporting, and integrated systems help us deliver proactive, data-driven service that meets rising expectations. By embedding these technologies into our core operations, we’re building an agile, insight-led ecosystem ready for today’s demands and tomorrow’s complexities.
What kind of cargo trends are you witnessing in 2025 — are there shifts in volumes, commodities, or trade routes?
In 2025, air cargo continues to show steady demand, but with more nuanced shifts than in previous years. According to IATA, global cargo tonne-kilometre (CTK) volumes are expected to grow by 5.8% year-on-year, building on strong momentum from 2024. Cross-border e-commerce, once a consistent growth engine, is undergoing recalibration due to evolving customs regulations and tightened de minimis thresholds across major markets, leading to a noticeable dip in volumes on traditionally high-traffic lanes. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty, shifting trade policies, and regional supply chain realignments are pushing airlines to diversify into underserved markets and secondary routes. In this dynamic context, Aeroprime plays a strategic role in guiding partner airlines through complexity and volatility. By combining deep regional insights, operational expertise, and real-time data analytics, we help airlines identify high-yield opportunities, adapt their network strategies, and ensure uninterrupted cargo pipelines. We build resilient pipelines that mitigate disruption by aligning demand forecasting with real-time market data. By monitoring shifts in commodity flows and trade patterns, we help carriers prioritize high-yield cargo and reroute capacity to corridors showing strong revenue potential. We stay ahead of the market by closely tracking changes in tariffs, customs regulations, and taxation policies, ensuring our partner airlines are well-prepared to respond proactively, long before these shifts impact cargo flows. Our localized support and continuous demand monitoring allow carriers to pivot quickly, capture emerging pockets of demand, and maximize profitability in a rapidly evolving global cargo environment.
What’s next for Aeroprime? Any expansion plans or technology integrations on the horizon?
We’re entering a new phase of strategic growth with an expanded footprint across high-growth regions like the UK, UAE, and Southeast Asia markets, where airlines seek experienced, reliable GSSA partners for both cargo and passenger representation. Our integrated model, combining technology with deep local expertise, continues to unlock new opportunities and scale operations sustainably.
We’re enhancing our digital capabilities with intelligent cargo booking tools, dynamic pricing, and automated reporting designed to boost speed, visibility, and profitability. By leveraging real-time data and advanced analytics, we deliver actionable market insights and smarter planning for our partners. AI-powered load planning and volume forecasting further improve accuracy and yield.
Through a focused blend of expansion, data-driven tools, and automation, Aeroprime is building a future-ready GSSA ecosystem that delivers measurable value and sets new benchmarks in airline representation.
