A significant milestone for India’s pharmaceutical air cargo sector as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, operated by Adani Airports, facilitated India’s first dedicated pharmaceutical charter flight using temperature-controlled refrigerated containers for a shipment bound for Brazil.
The operation involved two Qatar Airways Cargo Boeing 777 freighters, carrying more than 70 high-capacity refrigerated containers loaded with temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals.
The specialised shipment was handled in partnership with Expeditors International (India) and Envirotainer, with close coordination among airport teams, airline partners, freight forwarders and other stakeholders to maintain stringent cold-chain requirements.
This milestone highlights Ahmedabad Airport’s growing role in pharmaceutical exports and temperature-sensitive air cargo, strengthening India’s connectivity with global healthcare markets.
