The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) will develop a new terminal at Kalughat in Saran district where custom-notified cargoes will also have access. The new terminal will be ready in the next two years and will help to boost trade with neighbouring Nepal and North East Indian states and those falling under the National Highway-1 (NH-1) route. IWAI will also be giving two vessels to Bihar to be used as roll-on-roll-off (Ro-Ro) service.
